RE: Movie Premier for Windows 8 Development Update
In the final stretches!!! Just a few more tests to run and if all goes well, we should be submitting to Microsoft in the next couple of days. Man, insane amount of work went into this version...

RE: Movie Premier for Windows 8 Development Update
We have not changed any of our handling of MKV files in this release. Microsoft has a page that outlines their planned native support for video formats. There is support for MKV - but only h.264 encoding. So if your MKV files are h.264 encoded - you will be fine.

Microsoft has taken a pretty firm stance on video formats - largely based around the HTML 5 standard. Going so far as to label anyone not using their supported standards as an "enthusiast" who will need other software to play back content (this includes DVD rips that span multiple VOB files).

Now that we are wrapping up this release - we have a better platform with which to consider other players and codecs to support more than the out of the box Microsoft standard. There are some emerging players but they are even more challenging than the Microsoft player (which we are using right now). Until those players mature a bit - we will probably stick with the Microsoft player.

We still have the option in Movie Premier to launch another app for playback and that has been extended in the new release to allow you to launch ANY format back in another player, not just unsupported formats.

Thank you

We submitted the new app to the store and received a few mandatory changes from Microsoft. We are implementing those now and expect to resubmit by the end of the week if not sooner.

Thank you

Who would've thought our logger would be a problem. We were using log4net, and apparently it's not compliant with WinRT, so we had to replace it with something else. Seems to be fixed now though, so doing final checks and running all of our tests again to make sure everything is back to normal.

Ok the website has been updated and we're submitting to Microsoft as we speak. Not expecting any surprises here, so should be available in the next few days to you guys. Feel free to let us know what you think, but only the good stuff... Cool

Hey gang

We are aware the Microsoft language pack did not properly deploy in the store. You can still download movie data in another language but can only run the app in English.

We are working with Microsoft to get this fixed ASAP.

Thank you

Please see my thread under the support section. App is almost crippled in latest update on my Surface 2.
